We are getting to the exciting stages of our class blog... the design stage!
To begin, as a class you will choose the theme of your blog (you may want to have a look at the video in stage 1 to recap about the theme).
Then in groups you will create your own post to bring the blog alive.
So let's begin!
To begin, as a class you will choose the theme of your blog (you may want to have a look at the video in stage 1 to recap about the theme).
Then in groups you will create your own post to bring the blog alive.
So let's begin!
1. Log on to your kidblog profile. The website can be found here: https://kidblog.org/login
2. Watch the 3 minute kidblog tutorial.
3. Select your Class's Blog.
4. Click on Settings in the top left corner of the page. (An example of this page is pictured below) From this screen you will be able to view the privacy settings and select your theme.

3. Select your Class's Blog.
4. Click on Settings in the top left corner of the page. (An example of this page is pictured below) From this screen you will be able to view the privacy settings and select your theme.
5. In Settings, click on the privacy tab. This section explores the privacy settings of the blog. Discuss the settings and ensure they are set correctly. You will notice that "Public" is set as off. This is a security measure to stop someone viewing your blog without permission. .
6. Click on the theme tab. View some options and choose as theme for your class blog.
Great! Now as a class you need to decide on what information you would like to share on the blog.
Time to think, pair, share!
- First, think about the kinds of things you would like to share on a blog and write them on page 6 of your Technology Booklet.
- Then, pair up with the person beside you and discuss your ideas together. Add any new ideas to your Booklet in Question 2.
- Finally, as a class share the ideas you have come up with. Write them on the board and choose the top 6 to use as topics for the first 6 posts on your blog.
On the board write a short list of the types of information each category might include. Then finish off page 6 in your Technology Booklet.
You will now be working in small groups to design a post for the class blog. The groups will be assigned by the teacher in the next stage. From here on in you'll be working in small groups, so let's recap a little about group work.
